Weighing less than 4 ounces and only a few millimeters thick, the FYR XR Visor is the epitome of balanced form and function.
The aircraft aluminum chassis, polycarbonate housing, and remote battery pack unite in a sleek design that keeps weight and bulk off the face. It's designed from the start to provide maximum flexibility for the pilot, the maintainer, and the trainer, engineered from the ground up to exacting USAF anthropometric standards for ergonomics and visual performance.
The result is a lightweight, slim wearable comparable to wrap-around sports sunglasses. It's truly capable of all-day, every-day use, even in the most demanding operating environments.
Meeting the visual performance demands of our military simulation customers, our proprietary image sensor, display, and optical architectures enable a near-to-eye angular resolution of approximately 60 pixels per degree - roughly equivalent to 20/20 vision.
Clarity of depth perception is also perceptually unrestrained, with enough spatial fidelity to easily focus on objects from 30 cm to optical infinity with no discernible transition.
This unrivaled performance in both angular and spatial light field domains provides exceptional visual acuity, with enough fidelity to identify small, far away objects and read tiny, nearby print.
For the combat pilot and maintainer alike, the situational awareness afforded by peripheral vision is crucial. This was a key driver in our unique tileable Facet architecture, which enables the FYR XR Visor to span the entire human visual field, whether in a flight simulation or a training environment.
Compared to 1st and 2nd generation modern AR devices, which limit the horizontal FOV to just 30 or 40 degrees, our system provides a virtually unlimited 200-degree-wide panoramic AR experience while wearing the visor a comfortable 20 to 25 mm from the eye.

Our true light field system delivers light to the eye the way we naturally see. The view through the Visor is akin to peering through glass: we see into the visual scene instead of looking at it.
While other systems employ various tricks like stereoscopic imaging and careful eye-tracking with focal cues to give the impression of depth, the FYR XR Visor actually captures and re-emits the full volume of light the way that light would normally enter the pupil.
Eye fatigue, nausea, and other problems induced by the Vergence-Accommodation Conflict (VAC) are virtually eliminated. As a completely passive system emitting fully three-dimensional volumetric light, the Visor allows users to focus on nearby or far away objects as effortlessly as when viewing the real world.
The only head-mounted display system with complete control over the incoming light field, the FYR architecture allows for total digital manipulation of the entire visual field.
Synthetic content is not additively blended with an optical view, but rather digitally integrated with it. Virtual data and objects can fully occlude anything in the real world, regardless of their color, brightness, or ambient luminance. That means the Visor can be worn both indoors and outdoors in bright sunlight or harsh lighting, and virtual objects can both block and cast realistic shadows over the real world.
Time-of-Flight depth sensing and 9-DOF inertial measurement also ensure content in the virtual scene is always correctly composited with real objects. Combining these features with the lighting and depth data already inherent in the incoming light field enables content from any engine or image generator to provide unmatched realism. Virtual content can be truly integrated with the real world.
Wearing our lightweight digital Visor would be more cumbersome if contact lenses, glasses, or prescription optics were also necessary. For this reason, the FYR XR Visor can digitally correct for user vision problems.
Because the Visor is capturing, manipulating, and recreating the full light field in real-time, the emitted wavefront can be reconstructed to match almost any refractive errors of the eye. Featuring our patented virtual lens emulation algorithm, a variety of problems like nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and even certain higher order aberrations can be corrected virtually without the need for any other corrective eyewear or lens fittings, all with no noticeable impact on framerate.
Coupling this capability with complete control over the distribution of colors in the visual scene results in correction for even certain forms of color blindness - a total electronic corrective solution that can be tuned to various users.
Light fields are notorious for requiring massive compute power; most AR/VR experiences require device-specific optimizations. FYR's revolutionary render pipeline solves both of these challenges.
Using a patented rendering technique, the FYR Visor can display fully immersive light field experiences running on off-the-shelf GPU technology. This includes the mobile processors found in most smartphones. There's no need for an array of graphics cards or a high-end gaming computer, the device in your pocket has enough power for breathtaking XR experiences.
There's a wide world of existing AR/VR content out there, not to mention innumerable non-XR apps, games, and simulators. FYR's proprietary pipeline allows any existing 2D or 3D media to be viewed as an immersive light field with the addition of a single post-process shader.
